JZP

This is one of two rather large and strange landmarks in my neighbourhood (the second one is coming tomorrow!) This is the Jiriho z Podebrad Church (and I'm missing about half a dozen or more accents over several letters in its name) and it's quite enormous. It's featured trait is the large clock in the middle of it's steeple. Like most churches in the city, this one is no longer used for religious practices. It was built by Slovenia's most famous architect, Joze Plecnik, who sounds like he went cuckoo in the end (thanks to my buddy Rok for the historical summary!)

The church is right next to the metro station of the same name, which affectionately goes by the nickname of 'JZP' (Jay-Zee-Pee) by the local expats. (Hey I'd like to see you try and pronounce Jiriho z Podebrad when you've got all the accents thrown in!) ;-)
